HistoryThe Festive Brass is celebrating its eleventh season as one of the most unique performing groups on the Grand Strand. The Festive Brass began as a sextet in 1998 and has blossomed into the 30-piece British style brass band you see today. The band is composed of active and retired professional musicians and music educators, dedicated amateurs and, occasionally, gifted high school students. The Festive Brass has performed at many local functions. The most recent of these were the Arts Festival at Francis Marion University, Memorial Day and Veteran's Day ceremonies at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center, the Saturday Evening Riverside Park Concert Series in Conway, and the 2007 Christmas Towne and Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center. The band is very community minded and many of our concerts have raised funds for such things as Katrina victims and Habitat For Humanity. The Festive Brass has performed the opening concert for Can-Am week for the past several years. "Brasses to the Fore" is the group's signature tune, but our repertoire is extensive, featuring music that entertains audiences of all ages and musical tastes. From Sousa and British Military Marches to Broadway tunes, light classics and popular melodies, you will certainly be entertained by the Festive Brass. |
