Jennifer Egan, President

Jennifer Egan took on the role of President for the Festive Brass at the beginning of 2020 with the hope of continuing the legacy of excellence in the ensemble, and further the work of building this community of brass musicians around the Grand Strand.


Jen moved to the Myrtle Beach area from Rockford, Illinois in 2016 and was pleased to discover such a diverse and excellent music community here. Jen joined the Festive Brass at the beginning of 2017, and she has enjoyed the many friendships and personal growth that has come from this talented group of musicians. In addition to leading the Festive Brass, Jen also enjoys playing in the North Myrtle Beach Community Band, the Wilmington Symphonic Winds,  and the Beach Brass Quintet. Jen is a graphic designer by profession and works out of her home through her company, Allspice Studios, LLC.

DAVID HOWARD, immediate PAST PRESIDENT

David Howard served as President of the Festive Brass for 8 years, and has been an integral part of the management of personnel, event programming, music selection, and creating musical arrangements that fit the group's instrumentation best. 


Dave is a retired veterinarian and has been involved in musical groups for more than 40 years. Dave is also a member of other local community bands and ensembles such as the Wilmington Symphonic Winds, the North Myrtle Beach Community Band, and the Beach Brass Quintet.

Charles Dumas, conductor

Charles Dumas has served as the Director of Bands at Myrtle Beach High School for the last seven years, where his duties also include Department Chair and Auditorium Manager.  A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke with a BS and MA in Music Education, Mr. Dumas’ career as a music educator and director spans 25 years in North Carolina – 20 of which in public school classrooms, as well as five years at Methodist University as Director of Bands.


Mr. Dumas was chosen to co-direct the North Myrtle Beach Community Band in 2018, and since that time, the ensemble has seen growth in both performing members as well as audience attendance.  Along with the community band, he has been a frequent Guest Conductor with the Festive Brass over the last two seasons and is now looking forward to assuming the ensemble’s Musical Director position in January 2020.


When not directing, Mr. Dumas’ passions include golf, salt-water fishing, and listening to and performing in Jazz combos and big bands.  Mr. Dumas lives at the beach with his beautiful better half, Deanne, and two wonderful children, Evan and Elena.
