About the Festive Brass

The Festive Brass of Myrtle Beach is a community brass band located in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, USA. We are a volunteer organization that plays for fun and puts on concerts for the community.

In 1998, six brass players from the Grand Strand Concert Band launched a Brass Sextet. Audiences enjoyed their music so much and other brass players became so interested that the ensemble grew to become the Festive Brass. This talented group of 30 or so musicians preserves the tradition of a true British style Brass Band.

Comprised of an eclectic mix of music educators, retired professional musicians, advanced high school students and dedicated amateurs, the group strives for perfection and has achieved a vigorous and tasteful concert sound. Their repertoire includes famous Sousa and British military marches, classical transcriptions, show tunes and other popular melodies.

The Festive Brass performs throughout the Grand Strand area at malls, churches and concert halls. The group can also be regularly heard at festivals, on local television and at public events such at Veterans Day. Members are not paid, but the group is proud to give its graduating high school members modest college scholarships.
